Booking your first session with a personal trainer can feel like a big step, especially if you’ve never trained before or it’s been a while. The good news: a first session at home is relaxed, personal and built entirely around you. Here’s what to expect.

ToggleWhen you message us on WhatsApp, we’ll ask three simple things: your goal, your area in Dubai and when you’re free. That’s how we match you with the right coach.
A short conversation first. Your coach will ask about your goals, your routine, your training history and what has or hasn’t worked before. This shapes your whole plan.
A movement check. Next, you’ll go through a few basic movements such as squatting, pushing, hinging and balancing. This isn’t a test you can fail. It shows your coach how you move, where you’re strong and what needs work.
A real workout at your level. You’ll train, but the intensity is set for you. A good first session should leave you feeling challenged and energised, not wrecked.
Your plan. To finish, your coach explains what your training will look like: how often, what you’ll focus on and what you can do between sessions.
It’s normal to feel some muscle soreness one or two days later, especially if you’re new to training. It usually eases within a few days and gets less noticeable as your body adapts. Gentle walking, good sleep and enough water help.
If you’d like to continue, you can choose a pack of 10, 20 or 30 sessions. If not, there’s no pressure. Your first session is free so you can see if it’s right for you.
Can I choose a male or female coach? Yes. Just tell us your preference when you book.
Can we train outdoors instead? Yes. Parks, the beach and building pools all work, depending on the season and what suits you.
What if I’m a complete beginner? Many clients start from zero. Your coach will start at your level and build from there.
Before your first personal training session, it helps to know what a healthy week of activity looks like. The NHS physical activity guidelines recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate activity a week, plus strength exercises on 2 or more days, and your coach will help you build up to that.
Want a coach to guide you? Every PT DXB coach comes to your home in Dubai. Women often choose Liza, our female personal trainer, while Chaimaa, our strength training coach is great if you want to start lifting. Your first session is free.
